Dear Ciara

light rains

Dear Ciara,

I keep forgetting to write, but this time I’m not going to apologise for it. There's an actual reason why: I’ve been insanely productive working on a new creative project. It has consumed my life, but I am going to keep it a secret for a little while longer, as I'm scared if I begin talking about it I will jinx myself. Inspiration finally struck, I suppose.

Light rains have been frequenting Tropical Queensland these past few weeks and my garden has been loving it. My garden beds are overflowing with Thai basil and pineapple sage. Both are flowering profusely. I’ve got nine tomato plants growing taller every day, white cosmos blooming, sunflower seedlings beginning to germinate, sweet vines trailing up the fence... Even my aloe vera plant has done something! It has begun to multiply, roughly fifteen pups sprouting up from the soil around it. My lychee and jackfruit saplings, which haven’t done anything in months, have also decided to throw some new leaves.

Clearly, this is the best time of the year to garden in Tropical Queensland.

The Organist and I have plans to visit the markets this weekend, and tomorrow night we are going to go see Jurassic World: Rebirth. I don't care if the reviews are bad, I am just excited to see a Spinosaurus on screen again. It is my favourite dinosaur.

The song for today is:

Enn – Eivør

This is one of the songs I've been listening to on repeat while working on my new project. It is breathtakingly haunting. Don't play it until there is some fog swirling outside. Trust me.

Love,

The Gardener
